Hubbelskyu is a limited edition gin that has been created in collaboration with the Shetland Folk Festival Committee. Originally created to mark the 40th annual Shetland Folk Festival in 2020, we now hope it will be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home whilst enjoying the music of the many artists that were due to attend the festival this year. Each of the 500 bottles have been hand bottled, labelled and numbered by the Distillery Team at Saxa Vord.
It is a gin that's been inspired by the sea as it crashes into Shetland, by travel as the many visitors trek north to the most far-flung folk festival in the UK, and by a sweetness to celebrate the friends that are re-united and new ones made through the wonderful music.
The main botanicals used to create this gin were juniper, coriander, orange & lemon peel and bladderwrack seaweed, inspired by the ingredients used to create our award-winning Ocean Sent Gin. Hubbelskyu was settled in a sherry cask, and has been bottled at 40% abv to celebrate the 40 years of the Shetland Folk Festival.
As you'll be aware, unfortunately the 2020 Shetland Folk Festival has been rescheduled by an entire year due to the Coronavirus, resulting in some unforeseen costs for the charity. It had always been the intention to donate £1 per bottle to the hardworking, voluntary Shetland Folk Festival committee, and by releasing the bottle now the Shetland Distillery Company can help towards future funding costs of the festival, which we all hope will return in 2021.
