Up Helly Aa 2020 is the 5th expression in the Up Helly Aa series from Shetland Reel celebrates the annual Fire Festival in Lerwick, Shetland. Each distinct expression has been aged in casks and an Oloroso Sherry Cask was selected for the 2020 edition.
The award-winning Ocean Sent Shetland Reel Gin made using locally harvested Bladderwrack seaweed was filled into the casks and is ages for up to three months before being bottled and hand sealed with red wax.
Up Helly Aa 2023 is the eighth annual release of our limited-edition Up Helly Aa series, released every January to celebrate the annual fire festivals held throughout Shetland.
Using our 2021’s Lemon Fest gin as the starting point, our distillery team have aged the gin for 3 months in Port casks.
