Kim works part time with the Company preparing our management accounts.
How did you get involved in the drinks industry?
I met Debbie Strang (co-owner and Director) through a mutual friend at a dance class and we kept in touch. I remember being amazed at her and her husband’s drive for new business ventures. When I was offered a post within accounts for Shetland Reel I jumped at the chance. One of my first days involved (apart from accounts) tasting and helping name a new cocktail and I knew I was going to enjoy my time at Shetland Reel!
What do you enjoy most about working for Shetland Distillery?
Watching the Company and their products grow and develop especially during their rebranding stage and seeing the beautiful end results!
Where is your favourite place in Shetland to enjoy a gin?
I have been lucky enough to visit the Distillery on Unst and help the team at one of Shetland’s Food and Drink Fairs in Lerwick. It was great to get out from behind my desk and see so many positive reactions to our gin. The scenery on Shetland is breath taking and the people friendly and a gin or two was enjoyed after a busy weekend!
What it is your signature cocktail?
My favourite has to be Simmer in a tall glass with tonic or sicilian lemonade, a slice of orange, lots of ice, ideally sitting outside in the sun!
What makes Shetland Reel special to you
Being part of a small, hardworking, friendly Company who have a unique story and are constantly striving to produce top quality products and the fact that I get to be part of that story!
